We trundled off to Atocha Station and caught the RENFE train to Plasencia - an enjoyable 3 hour journey through Extramadura to pick up ´the car of Paco
Our connection, Manolo, couldn´t meet us for an hour or so, so it was an opportunity to explore a little of the old town and sample some more Spanish specialties...
albondigas as good as Reyes makes...
Manolo & the car of Paco....
Next stop on our journey was the lovely old town of Caceres, about one hour´s drive from Plasencia. Manolo kindly set us on the autovia (120km speed limit) and we were on our way. Brent´s quickly got into the swing of driving on the other side and is loving the great roads....negotiating the towns is another matter but so far so good...
Caceres was lovely. Our hotel, Don Carlos, was excellent and we enjoyed pottering around in the old town.
Great atmosphere with live music etc....of course Christmas is still ongoing in Spain, with the three wise men coming shortly, so there were lots of shoppers out and about...the lights were gorgeous, and also a great help in finding your way back to the hotel, as each street had a different display.
